On the Month of Love and Love Notes

I deliberately watched and refused to participate as friends and co-writers dedicated February to writing love notes to their loved ones. It was funny, lovely, aww-inducing and I was sorely tempted but I didn’t and I wondered — am I the only one who thinks love notes should be personal and not posted online?

I just couldn’t do it. I sincerely tried. I would like to say it was the introvert in me who isn’t comfortable sharing that part of me with the world. If I write you a love note and you decide to share it with the world, that’s fine by me but me putting it out there? Not for me.

Keyboard warriors would take to the internet and dig up this article I wrote 2 years ago and say- ‘You were saying?’ Yes, I wrote that. It was a challenge and I took it up and I think I did pretty well, considering my stance.

You may say there is nothing wrong in writing a love note and putting it out there for the world to know how how much you value and love them. I agree. If that is how you express yourself, please do. Tell the world how precious they are to you and have fun while you go about it.

What I am trying to say is that it shouldn’t just be February that is dedicated to writing love notes. What about during the other months of the year? What about during our everyday lives? That one line can turn their day into greatness. That little note tucked into their back pocket when they are not looking, their handbag, or into their lunch bag would boost their day — they come back feeling like victors.

And maybe for some of you writing is not even your forte, do voice notes. Create short videos if you can. No time? Check for pictures with these notes and send them.

We don’t need to wait till February to do all the writing of love notes and outpour of sentiments. Let it be a lifestyle. Send one today.
